Part 2. Gibb River Road, The Kimberley – Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge) and Dulundi (Silent Grove)
Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge) is swimming heaven! Bell Creek drops over a waterfall into a deep gorge pool, framed by red rock & spindly gums.
The Savannah Way runs from Cairns in Queensland to Broome in Western Australia.
The route is loosely defined and can include numerous alternative routes, depending on who you talk to. Nominally, Cairns to Broome is about 3,500km. But it can be a whole lot further once you start taking side trips and alternate routes!
We’re slowly filling in the gaps… and the alternate routes and the side trips!
If you want to see the Top End of Australia, then the Savannah Way (and all its alternate routes) has hundreds of incredible destinations for you to choose from.
We still have a few gaps to fill in on the map below. However, you’ll find plenty of information in the posts below.
Enjoy your journey of discovery across the Top End!
Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge) is swimming heaven! Bell Creek drops over a waterfall into a deep gorge pool, framed by red rock & spindly gums.
A coral reef on dry land, exploring an underground creek & wading amongst freshwater crocodiles. It can only be the magnificent Kimberley!
Derby Gaol in W.A. was horrific – mediaeval punishment in contemporary times. The brutal treatment of mainly Indigenous prisoners is beyond comprehension.
We bust the myth of Derby’s boab prison tree and uncover a shameful chapter of Australian history – inhuman treatment of our fellow man.
Burke Developmental Road is a little-known route between Normanton and Mareeba in QLD. What’s it like? Remote, peaceful… and some beautiful scenery.
