Have you ever wanted to build a race car? Or seriously thought about building your own off-road racer? Maybe wondered how much work is involved? Or decided you wanted to build a race car but thought it would be way too expensive?
My mate David Glazier has done it a couple of times now. And both cars were built on super-tight budgets. Sure you won’t build an off-road racer that’ll win Dakar… but you can build one to a budget and still have lots of fun.
Our NP Pajero developed a major engine problem. It simply wasn’t worth spending the money to repair. By chance, Dave’s race car #2 was tired, ready to retire. Beyond repairing. The body was cracked and the chassis was bent.
Now, my wife Peta navigates for Dave – and Dave’s son Andrew and I are the service crew. So we decided to donate our Pajero to a good cause. Dave’s race car #3 was born!
This section gives you some idea of the work involved in converting a standard road vehicle into an off-road racer. And I can tell you, it’s heaps of work. But the end result is worth it.
We’ll keep adding posts along the way, so be sure to check back here from time to time.
